Project Geologist
Overview
Elizabeth "Lizzie" Wratten joined the RGI team in 2017. With her applied geology background, Lizzie uses her expertise to analyze the landscape and materials uncovered during exploration. She has written geologic engineering reports for the geotechnical department, and used samples brought up through borings and test pits to assess each site. While on site during an exploration, Lizzie logs soils and rock cores, identifies water levels and soil densities, and collects samples to transport back to the RGI lab. In the lab she performs sieve, moisture, proctor, and Atterburg Limit tests. Lizzie also performs geotechnical construction monitoring which includes soil compaction testing, pile installation monitoring, and foundation/footing observations. She is a certified erosion and sediment control lead who makes observations on any materials leaving a site or locations where there is a possibility for sediment to leave the site. These observations allow the site contractor or owner to set up temporary erosion control measures to keep the sediment and water on site and protect the surrounding environment.
