Project Description

RGI conducted a Phase II subsurface soil and groundwater investigation at the Whitman College Physical Plant. The purpose of this Phase II was to evaluate soil and groundwater quality following the decommissioning (by removal) of two, approximately 4,000-gallon, diesel fuel, steel underground storage tanks (USTs). At least one of the USTs had leaked as evidenced by corrosion holes in the steel and the presence of free product in the UST cavity, although no groundwater quality investigation was performed.

Four groundwater monitoring wells were installed by RGI to evaluate groundwater quality with the goal of obtaining a determination of no further action (NFA) from the Washington State Department of Ecology. RGI was contracted to conduct on-going groundwater monitoring. In addition, RGI also conducted the UST site assessment for a decommissioned, closed-in-place concrete bunker oil UST.

Scope of Work
