Senior Project Geologist
Overview
Eric Woods has over 15 years of geotechnical experience in the Pacific Northwest and has provided services to both private and public clients. Mr. Woods currently supports RGI’s geotechnical department by providing project oversight, including project management. Eric also performs site explorations by monitoring boring and test pit excavations, logging soil and rock core, recording water levels and soil densities, collecting samples and preparing field logs. To be more efficient, he collects soil and groundwater samples in coordination with RGI’s environmental department.
Eric has participated in geologic hazard identification and assessments and in preparing field exploration programs and reports that address steep slope, landslide, erosion, and seismic hazards according to city and county codes. He has extensive experience preparing slope stability analyses and seismic modeling for structural design. Mr. Woods has performed soils infiltration analyses by running field infiltration testing and USDA and USCS sieve analyses, which determine design rates and confirm estimated rates.
He has also run short- and long-term seasonal groundwater monitoring programs through field visits and data logger installation and recovery. In RGI’s laboratory, Mr. Woods conducts soil testing, including moistures, sieves, Atterburg Limits, and proctors. Other geotechnical experience includes construction monitoring, pile installation, foundation observation, tieback and soil nail installation and testing, and soil compaction testing.
